The National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration is a conservation and management
partner with anglers, recreational fishing associations, state
and tribal managers, and other federal agencies. Our role as
the Nation’s marine fisheries steward requires close
collaboration with all recreational fishing stakeholders. These
collaborations enhance the management and conservation of recreational
species, their habitat, and ocean ecosystems.
With an emphasis on partnerships and deliverable outcomes, a
new NOAA Recreational Fisheries Strategic Plan is being developed.
This draft plan charts a course for NOAA efforts that provides
for major agency activities in science, management and outreach
categories.
Input from anglers, fishing organizations
and clubs, and recreational fisheries managers
is required in order to create a plan that is responsive to the needs of the
fishing and
management communities. To collect input, NOAA and its partners are planning
a series
of regional constituent sessions where concerned stakeholders can share their
ideas
on NOAA’s draft plan for recreational fisheries efforts. These evening
meetings will include
a NOAA presentation on the draft plan and a forum for discussion on how the
plan may
be improved to be responsive to local needs. A list of the planned regional
constituent
sessions is included here. Comments on the recreational fisheries draft plan
may also
be sent directly to NOAA using the contact information below.
